Jon Bruning4 150x150 Bruning Attends ONeill Rotary Meeting on Tuesday August 2nd.

Attorney General Jon Bruning talked about Federal Government overreach and intrusion into issues that are better left to Nebraskans to decide for themselves. He touched on the fact that the E.P.A. has grown too large and has too much power , which in turn leads to limited private sector growth. Other areas touched upon during his remarks include Entitlement Reform, elimination of the Department of Education and replacement of  the “No Child Left Behind” mandate. Attorney General Bruning is running to unseat Senator Ben Nelson who cast the deciding vote to pass ObamaCare.

Senator Johanns e-Update ~ February 7, 2011

Today Senator Johanns urged the President to fulfill his pledge to enact the pending free trade agreement with Colombia that has been stagnant for nearly five years. Our nation’s producers and manufacturers are anxiously awaiting its approval. The agreement would allow Omaha-based Valmont Industries to add a dozen or so jobs in Nebraska alone. Additionally, a farmer from Nebraska’s panhandle estimates $7,600 in lost wheat and corn revenue from just last year that can be specifically attributed to the agreement’s delay.

This delay is costly, but the message is simple: enacting this agreement with Colombia would improve our economy and  help put workers back on payrolls across America. While the President renewed his pledge to pass the Colombia trade agreement today, Senator Johanns encourage him to put his words into action by pulling the agreement off the White House shelf and submitting it to Congress.

Johanns 300x200 Senator Johanns e Update ~ February 2, 2011

Mike Johanns

An important opportunity was missed in the Senate today to fully repeal the unconstitutional and unwise health care law enacted in 2010. It’s time for my colleagues to listen to what our nation’s courts, business owners, and the majority of Americans have been saying all along: this ill-advised law is the wrong prescription for America. Full repeal would allow Congress to start over on health reform and build bipartisan solutions one step at a time.

There is a bright spot in the day; my months of hard work to get rid of the 1099 mandate in the health care law did finally pass the Senate. Small businesses, charities and churches across Nebraska and the nation can breathe a huge sigh of relief knowing the burdensome, costly provision is one step closer to being swept away. It’s a victory for our job creators and I want to thank the business owners in Nebraska who were willing to share their stories, which helped my colleagues to understand that this mandate is misguided and harmful to economic growth.
